Lemnos

An island in the Aegean Sea, Lemnos was the island where the godling Hephaestus landed after he was literally thrown from Mount Olympus by one of his parents, Hera or Zeus, for having been born with a weak body and a club foot. The natives of the islands, the barbaric Sintians, raised the child in secret for fear the gods would seek to finish him off. The women of Lemnos offended the goddess Aphrodite by neglecting their religious duties to her; the goddess punished the women causing them to have an offensive odor.
